Hello! I know it has been a few days since I last posted, as Jake and I are getting into the swing of the new school year! We start teaching next week! Anyways, we loved our stay in Venice! There is something so magical about Venice since it is so peaceful, there are no cars, so much water, and beautiful views! This was actually Jake's favorite city of the whole trip! It was incredibly hot while we were there, the highest temperatures in 12 years! We really enjoyed walking around and exploring the island at our leisure…take a look!

We did ask our hosts for any gelato recommendations, so they gave us a list of four gelato places. Since it can be difficult to navigate in Venice, when we found one of these places to get gelato, naturally, we stopped! We actually had two in a row here, from Grom and Gelateria Ca'd'oro. They were sooooo good!
Gondola rides are very popular in Venice, especially around 5pm. These boat rides are already incredibly expensive (about $100 for 35 minutes), but when you spend a while floating in gondola traffic, it seems even less worth it!
While it was pretty packed in San Marco Square, there was not a line to go up to the top of St. Mark's Campanile, so we decided to visit! We saw some beautiful sights!
This is one of my favorite pictures from the trip!
Yummy pesto pasta!
The next day we went to Antico Forno for some pizza slices for lunch!
It was so delicious!
We did a lot of eating here! We stopped by the Rialto Market to get some fresh fruit and then got more gelato!
Suso actually had a delightful vegan gelato! It was vanilla with a cherry flavor!
There were a lot of little shops were a wide variety of items for sale, including these crazy cat portraits!
More gondola traffic!
It looks like Settanni is written on this sign! :)
On the evening of our second night, we took a boat ride to the island of Burano, which is known for blocks of brightly-colored houses. As we were heading out there, the sun was setting and it looked gorgeous!
We have arrived at Burano!
It was so cool! We didn't end up staying too long since we wanted to catch the next boat back to Venice, but it was definitely a neat sight to see!
Dinner time is generally much later in Europe, so we ate around 10:30pm! This pizza place was directly outside the apartment we were staying at and recommended by our host, and it was amazing!
As we headed back to the train station to head to Florence, I had to get a picture of this unique outfit, which was used during the plague/Black Death by doctors. They would fill the beak with herbs and dried flowers because they thought the good smells would prevent them from getting the disease. Very interesting stuff!
A final view of the Rialto Bridge on our way out! We loved our trip to Venice and it is a destination I would absolutely recommend for others as well!
