Golden Circle (Part 2)

Hello! I don't have much time to write at the moment, but wanted to share some more photos from our Golden Circle adventures in Iceland. I mentioned our visit to the Thingvellir National Park in my previous post, but want to share photos from both Geysir and Gullfoss, which are the two other main sites in the Golden Circle.

To begin, Geysir refers to one large geyser and several smaller geysers that are all clustered around each other. The English language actually gets the word geyser from this particular site. The Icelandic word geysa means "to gush", so it is definitely a fitting name. The main geyser typically erupts once every 5 minutes or so, which means you are able to see it erupt many times, and each time the height varies quite a bit. The area is also situated by some really cool hiking paths, which I might have enjoyed even more than watching the geysers themselves! It was an absolutely beautiful day here!

After Geysir, we stopped for some lunch at their cafe. It was very interesting to see a variety of different candies than those we have in the US. For dessert, I could not resist trying a peanut butter Kit Kat variety. It was tasty!
Our next stop was Gullfoss. It is one of the most visited and larger waterfalls in Iceland, although later during our stay we saw several other impressive and beautiful waterfalls.

Some of the nearby scenery seemed like you might find the same pictures of a water bottle logo.
Even though it wasn't that cold at the waterfall, we decided to get a hot chocolate!
After we saw the waterfall we headed back to our cabin. The next two days we spent driving along the southern coastline of Iceland, along Route 1, a road that runs the entire way around the country! We have many more amazing sites to share with you! Enjoy your day/night/whenever you read this!
